Salchi Metalcoat is acquiring the Metal Packaging, Aluminium Tube and Monobloc paint business and also the Spray Lacquer business from Schekolin

Salchi Metalcoat has acquired the Metal Packaging, Aluminium Tube and Monobloc business, including Seam Protection powder, and also the Spray Lacquer business from Schekolin AG in Bendern (Liechtenstein). The sales contract was signed on 31 March 2017. Closing is scheduled for end of April 2017.
Salchi Metalcoat’s purchase offer includes the transfer of the product portfolio in the three areas, together with technical and organisational know-how, product inventories and customer bases.
In the light of Salchi Metalcoat’s long-term interest, this acquisition marks a good and future-oriented solution. The combination of specialist knowledge and technical know-how from the two companies will bring further advantages in terms of products, value and service. Until further notice, Schekolin will be continuing the production of packaging coatings on behalf of Salchi Metalcoat in the framework of a contract manufacturing agreement.

For the second year in a row SALCHI METALCOAT has been awarded by steel giant ArcelorMittal as the most innovative paint supplier. This year the award was for the category Aesthetics. The new product is named LightPlay and it is the fruit of the power of imagination and creativity of the Technical coil coating team.

The production complex, specialising in
the manufacturing of industrial coatings,
has been purchased by MEDIOCREDITO.
It borders to the north with Salchi’s current
plant and covers a 56,000 m2 area. In 2015, the
company will launch operations to integrate it
into its existing production facilities.
Along with the industrial complex, Salchi has
acquired B INDUSTRIES (formerly called ALCEA
Industries) from bankruptcy, including its
manufacturing plant and its R&D laboratories.
The purchase is a part of Salchi’s industrial
development plan aimed at improving its
industrial structures for the sectors of coatings for
coils, foils and packaging, in which it operates.
In the last few years, the company has especially
focussed on the research and development of
innovative products, with functional fi nishes
and special eff ects for the coil coating fi eld. For
what concerns the metal packaging sector,
on the other hand, Salchi has focussed on the
development of high-performance coatings and
inks for the food and beverage industry.
Salchi Metalcoat develops, manufactures,
markets and distributes in Italy and abroad
industrial coatings and inks for the coil, foil
and packaging fi elds. It is one of the major
independent European producers in the
industries in which it operates. It is also a member
of ECCA, the European Coil Coating Association.

Salchi Metalcoat is participating to the European Consortium SkyCoat.
SkyCoat recreates underground the experience of natural light, obtained through the complementary presence of direct sun and diffused sky light. Disadvantages and negative psychological reactions of hypogeal architecture, are blown away by the possibility of reproducing the sun and the sky many meters under the earth surface, and opens new and unexplored territory to real estate investors, architecture and lighting designers and to the public.

Salchi Metalcoat is the first company to launch EQ Lure® a BPA-NI Electro coat varnish “zero” VOC for the repair of the Easy-Open-Ends to be used in the food industry. The product is suitable for all electro coaters on the market. This new development is combining the features of an excellent repair E-coat varnish on the score with outstanding chemical resistances but no Bis-phenol-A Intentionally added.

Salchi Metalcoat has presented in Barcelona at the International Tin Plate Conference an interim report on the European funded project BIOCOPAC. Aim of the project is to develop bio-based lacquers for the protection of metal cans for the food industry starting from tomato waste. This technology is Bis-phenol-A Not Intentionally added. BIOCOPAC is a European Consortium of eleven companies from seven different countries. Salchi Metalcoat shall be the owner of all intellectual property related to the bio-based resin and the coating products to be formulated based on this bio-based resin to be developed by the BIOCOPAC project. On Jan 17 and 18, 2012 the kick-off meeting of the BIOCOPAC project took place in Parma.

BIOCOPAC project full title is: Development of a BIO-based COating from tomato processing wastes intended for metalPACkaging.

BIOCOPAC is a research project financed under the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Community for research, technological development and demonstration activities (2007-2013).

Participants to the BIOCOPAC project are 11 partners (4SME, 3endusers and 4RTD performers) from 6 EU countries organised in a consortium.

Salchi Metalcoat is the coating partner of the BIOCOPAC consortium and is committing the most relevant amount of resources to the project among all the partners.

Salchi Metalcoat is charged with the formulation of the BIO-lacquer and will be the holder of all the Intellectual Property Rights to be developed under the BIOCOPAC project.

SALCHI METALCOAT achieves BS OHSAS 18001 Certification

In January 2011 Salchi Metalcoat has achieved the registration to the Health & Safety management system standard BS OHSAS 18001:2007. The certification was issued by Certiquality.

The successful certification of Salchi Metalcoat's plant in Burago was the culmination of 12 months of hard work across the company.

The implementation of an occupational health & safety management system within Salchi Metalcoat has provided with a framework that will allow the organisation to consistently identify and control Salchi's health & safety risks, reduce the potential for accidents, aid legislative compliance and continually improve overall performance.

Directly connected to the H&S management system, Salchi Metalcoat's Board of Directors has approved and made operational the Organizational and Management Model in accordance with Article 25 septies Leg. Dec. 231/01 and the related "Code of Ethics".

The Italian packaging and coil coatings specialist company Salchi Metalcoat Srl, Milano, has acquired with effect 1.1.2011 the packaging coatings business of Rembrandtin Gmbh Wien.

The acquired business encompassed all intellectuals property and customer base and will be incorporated into the packaging division of Salchi.

In the future, after an initial phase of toll manufacturing in Wien by Rembrandtin, the products will be manifactured in Italy at Salchi's production site in Burago Molgora (Milan).

Through the acquisition of Rembrandtin's packaging coatings business, Salchi further expands its packaging business to the German and East European countries while strengthening its technological portfolio.
